Ok, I just bought back a gun I owned once before. It's a series 80 SS Combat Commander with a Bar-Sto barrel. Hell of a good shooter but I had two Combat Commanders and the other one had a better trigger so I let this one go. Glad to get it back as the other one is down the road now. I'll have to change the grips and put a Wilson Beavertail on it but it already has night sights and a short trigger so I'm good there. Once I get a trigger job on it, she'll be good to go! 44 Man

good lookin colt there buddy. Im a big fan of the commander sized guns but have never owned a colt commander buddy Als got and old beat up one that shoots like a house afire even though its about wore loose. Said the thing has never failed to go bang since he bought it and thats after many many thousands of rounds. Sounds like a rattle when you shake it but with 1.5 inch groups and dead reliablity who cares!! An alloy colt commander is on my future want lists.

Glad your Commander came home! I too am a fan of the 4" 1911s. My primary carry is a Kimber Pro Carry. My 4" 1911s outnumber my 5".

I love my Colt LW Commander for carry and all around use. It's accurate, easy to carry and has a pony on the slide. :wink: MI VHNTR

My old LW Commander is one of the first 2500 production guns and has seen better than 10K rounds of ball and mil-spec level handloads through it. It served with me in S.E Asia and S. America. It has seen a lot of heavy use and I carry that pistol today because it is so reliable.

The Commander length is just right for lots of guys - I place it on a popularity parallel with the old 4+5/8" bbl 1873 Colt revolver (although that may be the more popular handgun) - very popular, very reliable, very effective.

It is carried much and shot often. The first shot always hits dead center of the bull at 25 yds and that is good enough for a rescue shot. After that, I come unglued (lol) and the groups open up to about 2-3". I wouldn't trade it and if I ever get another I would 'dress' it the same way this one has been dressed (trigger group and grip safety).
