.223 velocities

just curious how fast your .223 handi shoots? mine has the 22" stand taper barrel. here are the results i get with my loads:

40gr. vmax     W748/28.0g      3350fps
50gr. vmax     W748/26.5g      3112fps
50gr. vmax     H335/26.0g       3100fps
50gr. bal.tp     W748/26.5g       3075fps
50gr. bal.tp     H335/26.0g       3177fps

these are max loads in my rifle. any hotter and i get flattened primers, stuck cases and poor accuracy. these are the only powders and bullets i've tried so far. i shot some 55gr. federal premium tbbc factory ammo and got over 3100fps. also, i forgot to mention that i seat all my rounds to 2.255" oal since my .223 has such a long throat.

The only ammo I've tried is Black Hills 52gr Match JHP...   3280-3330fps with my 24" heavy barrel.   5/8" 3 shot 100yrd groups

26 grains of H335 in my .223Rem with a 50 grain pointed soft point remington bullet (bought in bulk from Midway) gives me around 3100 feet per second. And I have shot groups as small as 0.6" with this combo. Needless to say, I am happy with this load.
