Cimarron .45 Colt chambered revolvers
« on: June 21, 2006, 04:18:18 PM »
I'd appreciate hearing from those of you who shoot these, as I'm leaning toward buying a Bisley model. I'm curious as to whether the chamber throats are now being machined within about .001" of groove diameter, for best accuracy. What can you tell me ? How do your guns shoot? Thanx for your feedback, JD45

not a big fan of cimmeron anymore. I had a couple of them and though they were fine guns there service dept left a bad taste in my mouth. I sent my 44 special lightning in because while shooting it the front sight blade fell off and required resoldering. They fixed it allright but sent me a bill for 120 for the work. Any other gun manufature out there would have fixed it free of charge. I sent many emails to them and tried explaining it nicely that i didnt abuse the gun or bump it it just fell off. But it came down to an email from them that flat stated if i wanted my gun back id have to send them the money.

My .44 Special had the half-cock notch on the hammer break off within the first few months.  It didn't fall nor was it forced.  Just routine cocking.  Cimarron stated I'd have to go to VTI and buy a replacement.

Well, I guess if I want a Bisley, I might as well go whole hog & get a USFA. Take a couple years to save up for it, though. I remember your original post about that problem, Dan JD45

I spoke to Cimarron's gunsmith a couple years ago at a Cowboy event. Very arrogant young man, and really did not impress me much with his knowledge of SAAs.
USFA is the best way to go, IMHO.

Yeah, I got the same impression when I talked to this guy named Chris a couple of weeks ago, altho Robert was very cordial. I have 2 USFA's already,.........might as well get a third. Very impressed with the craftsmanship, finish ,& accuracy. JD45

I have a ruger vaq bisley the only thing I dont like about it is that because of the grip it dont recoil as nicely as my vaq's with the more traditional grip and I have big hands.
With heavier loads my hands start to smart after relitivly few rounds as oposed to the rounded colt style grip. Just my 2cents

You can get the same handgun from EMF for less money and friends tell me the service people are much more helpful.
