What's the best airsoft gun to get?
« on: June 23, 2006, 10:24:07 AM »
Hello,
I was at a buddies house last night and he showed me new airsoft electronic beretta.  I was amazed at the power the thing had!  I had given him one that I had gotten free with an internet order and didn't have much use for it.  It was a single action one and it stunk.  This one he had last night was electronic, semi auto and had tons of power.  I got on ebay and there are tons of these out there in all kinds of configurations.  My question is...  What one is the most powerful?  The best I have found yet is 300FPS.  I could see this being a lot of fun with paintballs and buddies.  What do you all think???

the ATOZ Dragunov is probably the most powerful 6mm airsoft gun, at 515 fps with a .2 gram. this guns is expensive, $500, especially when you consider that it's a springer. if you want more power, you will need to go to 8mm guns.

I was thinking more along the lines of the $35-$80 electric autos.  The best I have found is an MP5 looka like that get 240 fps.  I'd like to find one closer to 300 or up fps, but getting me to spend more than $65 with shipping and handling would be a very hard sell.  This would just be for giggles, maybe some paintball but who knows.

are those velocities with a .2 or .12g? paintballs and airsoft guns dont mix well. you would probably be better off getting a NBB gas handgun. they are like $40+shipping and shoot about 280 FPS

I'm not familiar with NBB gas guns at all.  Could you explain what those are?  Are they a CO2 powered gun?

I have springer rifles and pistols. Both are Soft Air USA distributed one is a 1911 the other is a FAMAS bullpup rifle. That electric pistol is quite weak really 150fps aint much, my 1911 hits 300 and the FAMAS 304fps. downside to springers is they need to be cocked each shot, but they're simpler mechanically. Gander has the  electric XM-8 which is a middle rated gun, fast fps but not the best maker, stay away from the Palco 3/4 scale electric M4s though. Airsplat.com and airsoftatlanta.com has good selection, be wary of the under $30-85 range electrics they'll work but just take care of them and if you get a bad one use the 30day return policy. I was about to get the MP5 but i'm leaving for basic the 8th so no point anymore.

These airsoft guns you are talking about are only lpeg's (low powered electric gun)..
i would reccomend you to get an AEG.. Classic army or tokyo marui or ics. here are some sites..

www.airsoftatlanta.com       www.redwolfairsoft.com     www.wgcshop.com

You will never regret buying one of these..

They are full scale and the classic army series is full metal. they shoot around 320 fps stock and can be upgraded to around 420.. The

guns you are messing around with now do not compare to these. They are upgradable and dont break down like the cheap ebbs. NBB guns i would reccomend is the uhc usp. it retails fro around 40 and get an fps around 300. these guns have an internal gas resevopir in the magazine which is filled with a canister of green gas (which is much like propane.)

These aegs also take cosmetic upgrades (most companies make them) like silencers, grenade launchers (functional) and bipods, basically everything you can think of... be willing to spend at least 500 to start out in this sport.

mention that tmfreak showed you the sites and theyll be glad to help you

here is my classic army m15a4, full metal and shoots around 360..

upgrades:
systema m110 spring
hurricane upgrade kit (poly piston (piston head) brass spring guide w/ bearings
systema tight bore 6.04mm

Well I got my M83 off of Ebay in the mid $50's.  At first the thing was awesome, then the first time I took it to a friends house it wouldn't feed or fire consistantly.  I had to hold down the trigger for about a minute before anything would start to happen but when it got started it kept going.  I've still got it but if I can't do a quick fix I'll just throw it away and figure what the heck.

Leaving for Basic on the 8th huh.  I spent some time at Fort Leonard Wood during my basic.  If you have any questions feel free to ask, and good luck.

The best thing you can do in basic is just "go with the flow".  You know you're gonna be running, doing pushups and situps.  The guys that I saw having problems were the kind of guys that would get an additude about things.  You've got to know in the back of your mind that even when your drill sergeants are yelling at you they are tryign to save your life.  You'll understand what I'm talking about if you're ever in combat.  I'm not going to lie to you, while you're going through it there will be days where you'll think you can't go any farther or faster, but that's just because you havn't before.  Once you get over the initial shock of it just do what they say, follow the rules and you'll sail right through it.  You're also going to have days when you accomplish something and you know in your heart that you've accomplished something that most people only think about trying if that.  I remember on a road march in basic I looked down at my shadow on the ground, and it was the shadow of a strong soldier.  There's going to be some days in basic where you'll walk away saying that I can't believe I just got paid to go do that!  You'll be fine, trust yourself, help the guy next to you regardless if you like him or not and most imprtantly GO TO THE CHURCH SERVICES ON SUNDAY!  Get out of the barracks when allowed.
