good rest for a handi ?

just curious what others use or recommend?? i use a caldwell front & rear bag works ok i just can't get comfortable with this setup & my handi...any thoughts are appreciated....

I use a Cabela's Premier rest, it's totally adjustable and can be set so the front rest is under the front of the frame or rear of the forend where most Handis shoot best. It's also high enough that I can shoot heavy kickers in an upright position that allows my upper body to move with recoil instead of leaning into it. It has helped me shoot some of the best groups I've ever shot with centefire rifles.

quickdtoo,you hit the nail on the head i didn't know if the front rest could be adjusted to accomodate the handi...on a side note"being righthanded where should a place my left hand? on bolt guns i stretch out a bit & lightly rest my left forefinger against my stock.the handi is slightly more ackward if you will.doy you rest your non-trigger hand under the action?? thanks much.

Some don't use the offside hand at all and as little contact as possible with the trigger hand, I prefer to hold the wrist loosely with my trigger hand and put a finger over the top of the barrel just ahead of the scope with just enough pressure to keep it on the rest but allow it to slide back at recoil, sort of a modified free recoil.

With light recoiling varmint calibers I don't use my offside hand at all. The more body contact with high power scopes causes heart beat movement of the rifle and can be seen in the scope which isn't conducive to great accuracy.

I've better results using benchrest setup.

I have pretty good luck with the bench master, but the calbelas premier looks like it would be better for the handi rifle so its on my list to get or something similar.

I use the Caldwell DeadShot bags...I love them. Can't say enough good about them here :agree:  Just pack the rifle down in the front rest with the bags under the receiver, and your good to go.
