New 209/45 Question
« on: April 03, 2003, 12:43:26 AM »
Anybody have a clue why the new T/C .205/45 G2 barrels won't fit an older frame? T/C reps won't say.

209 X .45

I'M NOT ANY KIND OF EXPERT OR ANYTHING, BUT LOOKING THROUGH MY LAST TC CATALOG, I DON'T SEE ANY G2 209 X .45 BARRELS.  IT IS CATALOG # 29, 2002.  THERE IS A 209 X .45 ENCORE BARREL THAT IS LISTED AS NEW PRODUCT IN THIS CATALOG.  MAYBE TC HAS COME OUT WITH A 209 X .45 FOR THE NEW G2 FRAME AND I'M NOT AWARE OF IT.  IF THEY HAVEN'T COME OUT WITH THIS NEW BARREL FOR THE SMALLER G2 FRAME, THAT WOULD EXPLAIN WHY IT DOESN'T FIT THE OLD CONTENDER FRAMES.  MAYBE YOU HAVE ALREADY FIGURED THIS ALL OUT.  JUST TRYING TO BE HELPFUL.  HAVE A GOOD ONE.  TCTRAV.

:) RIGHT AFTER I POSTED THE LAST REPLY I WENT TO TC'S WEBSITE AND SEE THAT THEY DO MAKE A 209 X .45 BARREL FOR THE G2 CONTENDER.  AS TO WHY THEY DON'T FIT THE OLD FRAMES, I HAVE NO IDEA.  GUESS I SHOULD DO MY RESEARCH FIRST, HUH?  GOOD LUCK AND I HOPE YOU FIND YOUR ANSWERS.   TCTRAV.

"some" have said there is a protruding pin on the G2 barrels that will not allow the barrel to close on the original Contender frames.  "they" also say the pin is removable.
WHUT?

New 209/45 Question

I just ordered a Gonic barrel in .45 muzzleloader from a feller on this site, that was made for the Contender. A very decent price I might add. Now to get a forend for it. I'm thinking along the lines of a G2 209X45 as the forends are supposed to fit the older Contenders.

A few weeks ago I quizzed the rep from TC, on why the barrel intended for the G2, wouldn't fit if the pin was removed from the base of the barrel, he him hawed around and then came up with a lame excuse, that the unburnt powder would fall into the reciever of the old Contender, and do terrible things. Well I just got the #30 catalogue from TC, and it says that all the powder fouling, stays contained in the barrel, for easy cleaning and the breech plug is a special patented to facillitate easy removal for cleaning, and prevents any blow back..
