What are the pro's & con's of this? I am in the market for a 4-3/4" .475 and have found one but it's ported. I have heard some don't like this. I want to shoot cast bullets so is this a no-no?

My FA 454 Casull with 7" barrel is ported but I doubt that it does much good controlling muzzle flip with the really hot loads. However, in my old age I don't shoot many of those anymore.

You could purchase that one, try it, and if absolutely necessary rebarrel it at FA.

I can't believ their aren't more strong feelings about this. Surely you guys have some opinions on porting.

Sure we do. Just do a few searches and you will find out about them. FWIW I traded off the only magnum handgun I ever Magnaported. Sure handguns are loud but after 3 shots my ears were ringing and I had a headache even the next day!
