I have a Boyd's laminate set in nutmeg that i got about 1 year ago, It'll do, and the price was right, and I'm not afraid to beat it up in the woods. It needed some work when I got it, LOP is kinda short so I added a recoil pad, and the forend required some sanding to fit my bull barrels, but for durability and usability it's not bad.
But when I wanted to set up a contender carbine for my wife I called Fred at Bullberry and ordered a finished Utility walnut stock cut to fit her. What I got was much better that what I would consider utility grade. It's one beautiful stock. It cost a little more than twice as much but is ten times nicer than what I got from Boyds. The comb and palm swell are really nice touches and make it one comfortable looking stock. I would live to buy one for myself, but I could never bring myself to take it any farther than the rifle range. I might get one some day but I'd have to beg Fred to make it as ugly as possible but from what I've seen I don't think he could make an ugly set
