338 RUM shoots .....
« on: June 29, 2006, 05:39:55 AM »
I have put some bullets threw my congraph with my 338 RUM.

The 200 gr bullet goes 3260 FPS
The 225 gr bullet goes 3178 FPS with 5044 Foot lbs of Engery
The 250 gr bullet goes 2998 FPS

All these bullets have high B.C.

Just thought this would be of interest.

Not much you can't do with that. Some are getting very good accuracy too!

Well the results,

The 200 gr bullets shot a 5/8" group at 200 yds.

The 225 gr bullets shot a 7/8" group at 200 yds.

The 250 gr bullets shot a 10" group at 200 yds but I have fired these bullets to 400 yds and the group was 4.5"

Maybe I can find a different bullet with a high B.C. that has a shorter
boat tail in the 250 weight. Something to work on before next hunt.

The 225 Accubond sure looks good & a good BC for the weight. Is this what you are shooting?

Many are asking Nosler & Swift to introduce a 250 Gr. or heavier in the Ac. or Sc. for a super long range bullet but who knows.

Yes it is an Accubond 225gr bullet.
I've shot those nosler bullets before, they fly pretty good.
There isn't alot of 250gr bullets with a high B.C. that are good for hunting. Most of them have a medium B.C.

The 200 gr bullet was a Speer Hot Core it has a very high B.C. and would be a good hunting bullet also.

I loaded some  Nosler partitions to different fps and found that those nosler partitions like
to travel at 2975 fps with RL25 powder. So I guess thats the fps I'll shoot them at.
