New Canon S2 IS
« on: June 30, 2006, 03:04:22 AM »
I just bought a new Canon S2 IS 5 megapixle digital camera. I had an older Kodak 4 megapixle but it finally conked out on me. I pointed it at the sun for a few seconds while taking a video clip of the blue angels. Everything went black and stayed black.
So anyway, I replaced it with this Canon S2 IS and man this thing has SO MANY buttons and features it's blowing my mind trying to figure it out. I'm taking great pictures with it but I'm just using the auto mode.
I read the manual(S) and still don't understand it. It came with like 4 books to read.
Does anyone have this camera? Maybe you can give me some tips or tricks.  Please.

Not familuar with the S2, is it a SLR? I have a Nikon D70. Probally only have it rather than a cannon because my film cameras have been Nikons for a long time, the lenses work on the digital.

No it's not a DSLR, I couldn't cough up $$$$ for one of them. This was Canon's top of the line super zoom point and shoot until they just released the new S3. One thing I didn't like about the DSLR's was that they had no video capabilities. I didn't want to have to carry a camera and a camcorder. But I'm sure the DSLR would take much better pictures than a point and shoot.
I have a Minolta 35mm SLR for the serious stuff.
