Cabela's (Pedersoli) Kentucky Flint

Just picked up a new Pedersoli Kentucky flinter from Cabela's.  It's my first firearm purchase in my entire 43 (or so) years.  It's a pretty thang to be sure.  The flint, however, seems a bit too close to the frizzen at half-cock/frizzen closed, as the frizzen doesn't close completely.  I assume I need to knapp it down a little, but I need a very basic lesson in doing this.  Any suggestions?  I'm dying to touch this beauty off! :-)

 depending on how much you will need to take off the front,. It may be better to take it off the back right where the flint comes in contact with the  cock screw . This will allow the flint to move back and set properly

Much 'preciated folks.  Found out there's a better way...get rid of the man-made flints and get me some real English rocks.  Now I just need to get my bro to open up the range and make some smoke!

I like my rifle alot now that I filed about a tenth of and inch off the front sight ( could figure where the balls were hitting until I aimed real high as last resort ), groups pretty well at 100 yards now.

Do you guy's know that it's not the rock that makes the sparks? Now don't get me wrong, a good flint is key too good sparking, and good sparking leads to good ignition of the primer in the pan..

 But the hard sharp edge of the flint actually shaves molten hot pieses of steel off the frizzen too make sparks It's that angle and stryking thing that happens so fast

 yep sure did  but did . the frizzen must also be high in carbon  and of suitable temper or it will nto spark
