I remember reading some threads on Contenders that were hard to open. I looked back but I couldn't find the posts. Please help. What were the problems that would make a Contender, 10" 223 barrel, hard to open and how to get it open and cure it. Thanks, Steve AZ

Sounds like you need to have the conversion done on your frame. Go to foxridge site and give em a call. I had one done recently. I sent the gun out on thursday and got it back the following friday. Very quick service. The frame opens as smooth as can be. :-)

Depends on the problem. If you have an early frame (before 195k) than maybe you have a need for a conversion IF it is always hard to open, meaning it takes more force than you'd like. The conversion gives you more mechanical advantage and makes it take less pressure to open the frame. If you have a frame that sticks after you fire a round, you've got a whole 'nother problem. Lots of threads on here about it, try "contender won't fire" and "Breaking open Contender" I think they're the most recent. Again it depends on when you're having trouble opening it.

Thanks for the replies. It is of the harder to open than we would like it to be variety. It is of the older models, less than sn 195,000. The gun belongs to a friend of mine. I let him know of the conversion. Thanks
