Grizzly in back yard
« on: July 01, 2006, 09:53:36 PM »
I live in a subdivision here in North Pole.  The Oil Pipelinhe runs at the back of my yard.  This corridor makes a great migration route for wildlife.  Recently a female grizzly bear, with two cubs has been spotted at Chena Lakes Recreation area.  The pipeline runs directly from my back yard to the recreation area.  This evening my wife let the dogs out to do their business in the back, they smelled the ground about 15 feet from the house and turned around and came back in.  These two Beagles refused to go out side again.  The wife came in fussing about the dogs not going outside, I went to the back door, and there were the bears.  About 30 yards from the house.  We watched them for a while, then they layed down in the bushes.  I can look out my second story bedroom window and see them lying in the brush.

That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

My 10 y.o. son will be glad to hear you have them corralled over your way.  He's camping with a friends family at Chena Lakes tonight!

It's not that far from my house to Chena Lakes.  They were in my yard again this morning.  I took the dogs out at 5 AM, and the Sow and one cub was in view from my back door.  They were about 150 yards from the house.

It must be exciting when you need to open your door verrrry slooowly then stick your head out to see if you have visitors on the porch.  If I had any such visitors, they would probably leave on the 4th when the fireworks starts.  Meanwhile, I would be like the beagles.
