As Bigeasy said, I was looking at the pretty revolvers, saw the boot guns and realized that I too have one:

(I replaced the clunky plastic grips with ones I made from mesquite burl.)

Here's my 454 that just got back from FA. They did a terrific job. I bought the gun with a 7 1/2" ported barrel, and finally sent it back to get it cut down to 5 5/8" Yup, that's no typo. I wanted the barrel cut down just below the ports leaving as much barrel as possible.

I also got an inverted crown, but wanted a shallower dish than I've seen in pictures. The picture doesn't show the crown very well, but it's very attractive, and worth the money imo. I'm also very happy with the balance. Thanks Freedom Arms, keep up the good work.

Dang!  Is this thread years old or what?   :o
Guess I'd better post a few..  Here are the short barrel FAs in my set.  Not that many...  Thinking that is a sign that I need more!

Didn't see this one in any of above pictures.  FA97, .45 Colt, 3 1/2" Round Butt.  Axehandle's .500 WE, 4" RB shown above would make a perfect companion for this belly gun.

Ken,

That little M97 is incredibly easy to shoot,  not to mention it's so much fun you're out of ammo before you know it.  I just dropped it in the shooting bag -- I'll be heading out as soon as the wife gets home.  It's 3 deg above zero here right now, so it'll be s short session -- keep the truck running, get out to shoot, back in the truck to load, wash, rinse, repeat until it's too dark to continue -- I'll have about an hour of shooting light by the time I get to the range.

Somewhere along the way I acquired a taste for "Long Tom" FAs...
The set started with a 22 LR.  The 32 Mag was the second..

A 44 Mag came in from Kansas.  It now wears Shilouette sights

The newest is a 357.  When it returns from ivory micarta grip fitting it will get Silhouette sights too..

That's a beauty and a 5 1/2" .44 Special is an excellent all-around choice. Of course, if it was wearing that patridge front sight in the photo it would be a GREAT gun!  ;D ;D ;D

Okay here is a new picture of the two that started this thread.

The upper is an 83 PG in 475 Linebaugh, 4 3/4 with a trigger job, round butt, Sambar Stag from Eagle Grips, express rear and green fiber front.
The lower is a 97 PG in 45 Colt, 4 1/4 with a trigger job, round butt, Sambar Stag from Eagle Grips, express rear and green fiber front as well.
The grips on the 475 were selected for a little less "bark" so they would allow the gun to recoil and roll without removing the skin from my hand.  Both guns are easy to pack, fun too shoot and way more accurate than I am.  It has been said they are prettier than I am as well.

That's a great looking pair! I particularly like the lesser bark stag on the .475.

I finally got around to getting that scope mount for my model 97 .357. Put my trusty Trijicon Reflex sight on it.
It may be ugly but, well, OK, it's just plain ugly.
I've had this Reflex sight for over ten years and it is one tough piece of glass with no batteries needed.

Here are my four Model 83s in 454.  I don't have a picture of my 475 Linebaugh.

The bottom fixed sight gun has the factory mirror finish which was an $800 option when the gun was new.  Both guns are early production (circa 87-88) have factory antique white micarta grips, factory action jobs and are set up for daily carry.

These two guns are very early production (circa 86-87), have replaceable forcing cones, express sights and factory action jobs and are set up for hunting only.

Mine also has a replaceable forcing cone. I've heard different versions about what they were made of. Does anyone know exactly what they were made of ....
