Drop away rest's???
« on: July 08, 2006, 06:27:04 PM »
I'm trying to decide which to go with.  The three I'm looking at are the Cobra Diamondback, Trophy Ridge Drop Zone and the Vital Bow Gear Kazaway.  I guess two others are the Trophy Taker  Shakey Hunter and the DMI Xpert II.  The last is very nice in that it has a roller on a lifting arm.  If you haven't seen the latter of the two...goto www.dotymi.com

Let me know what ya think of the 5 above or if you have a favorite let me know.  I will say up front, I don't like the wisker biscuit.  Just something about an arrow having to go through that much stuff is not my cup of tea. IMHO :-*

Sorry I have never used any of those. I use a Muzzy Zero Effect. It has worked flawlessly for 3 seasons now. The main advantage the Muzzy has is that its virtually impossible, no impossible for the arrow not to be on the rest unless you are basically shooting your bow upside-down. There are a couple of pics of it mounted on my Mathews at http://www.bghi.us/index.php?x=ultra2

I can vouch for the drop zone.  Had mine for 2 years hasn't failed me yet.  Have had peect arrow flight since the day I put it on.

This isn't a beer gut!!  Its a feul tank for a sex machine!!

That muzzy is very interesting. It doesn't effect the flight of the arrow being in that small channel? I used to use a rest not sure of the name anymore but it had three wheels and held the shaft in place but when the arrow was fired it would basically vibrate it's way through, needless to say the accuracy of the bow was pretty bad so I got rid of it but I do like the idea of something holding the arrow on the rest until I'm ready to fire.

The arrow just sits in the channel at rest, it comes with some camo felt with adhesive which is put on the chaneel to muffle all noise. As the bow is drawn the rest comes up and raises the arrow. Better pics at Muzzy site http://www.muzzy.com/next_generation_zero_effect.htm

I shoot a ripcord fall away.  I added some felt to silence it and it works great.

Does having a string attached to the cable have any effect on the bow? Also saw a rest (forget the name) that uses magnetic fields to center the arrow in an opening so the shaft never touches anything, ever heard of anyone trying it out? I'm contemplating replacing my current rest, I'm tired of the arrow coming off when I draw.

I forgot to mention my current setup shoots extremely well and I'm very reluctant to change it. Maybe I can live with it the way it is, and just be more cautious when I draw. Maybe just one of those rubber things that hold the arrow on the rest until you draw. I don't know what to do.

Pondering the same question about finally upgrading from my TM Hunter style rest.  I am probably going to buy a QAD Ultra Rest.  Check it out. http://www.qadinc.com/ultra-rest.htm

Lewdog,  The Ripcord is working GREAT for me too.  Already took a nice buck with mine this year.  Working on taking a bear with it now.
