best deer load
« on: July 09, 2006, 12:09:31 PM »
I know this has probably been discussed before but I am having a real hard time with the new format. Very difficult to post or search, always get a cannotfind server message.

Just bought a 209x50 encore and was wondering what loads you guys use for whitetail deer. I am planning on using triple seven powder as I have had good luck with it in the past. The nearest rifle range is over an hour away from me, that's why I ask. I plan on trying loads to see what my gun likes best, but at least this will give me somewhere to start.
thanks in advance,
jim

GrimJim
My Encore 209x50 shoots VERY well----------I use two 50gr 777 pellets under a 250gr T/C Shockwave. I get 1-1.5in groups at 100yrds.
I am currently using Remington Kleenbore primers BUT may try the newest Winchester primers made for shooting 777.
Good Luck working up a load

I think a buffalo 375 grain SSB sabot boattail with 80 grains of triple 777 should print some excellent groups.
Buffalo bullet SSB are .451 diameter but really mic: out .449 should slide down the barrel without problems ,I heard some t/c barrel in 50 cal.are tight bores
