« on: July 09, 2006, 01:54:29 PM »
Hi guys was just at the local shop and saw some 225 gr.sp from Hornady, was wondering if anyone has used this bullet in a 375 JDJ carbine contender, mine is a 21 inch stainless bull barrel.I have tried the 270 and 235 grain bullets.I want to try the 260 Nosler Acubond, have them on order.
Any experience with either would be appreciated.
Thanks.

I am currently working on developing a load with the 260 Acubond and the 225 Hornady spire. The acubonds are proving to be very accurate, but I haven't found the right load for the 225s yet. Best groups are around 3-4", which is good enough for what I would use them for, but not great. I am up to 48 grains of H4895 with the 225s and 48 grains IMR 4064 with the 260s and there are no pressure signs. I am using a 23" factory blue barrel. The data that SSK sent with the dies shows Varget getting the 270 hornardy up to 2532FPS. If I can get the 260 Acubond around 2500, that would be a great elk and moose stomper, as well as perfect for large hogs and bear. I am using 40 grains of H4895 with the Sierra 200 flat noses and it is very pleasant to shoot and accurate. Probably the load I will use the most for Deer. I can always kick the powder up, but right now it is right aroun 375Win ballistics, which is plenty for deer.

Good shooting,
Brian
