How can you tell when the rut is going to start,and does it happen at the same time every year?

In most areas, the rut starts within a few weeks of the same time every year.
It's signalled by increased deer activity, rubs, scrapes, and fights.
You should be able to find lots of evidence of it in the early stages of the rut.
