« on: July 12, 2006, 05:47:52 PM »
I order myself a Marlin 336 in .35 Rem Sat. and will take about 2 weeks to arrive;which will give me time to pick a scope for it.Will be hunting mostly heavy to moderate woods.Shots not over 100 yrds if that far.Give or take a little. What scope do you guys recommend?........Rick

I would personally mount something in the 1.5-4.5X range.  At the very most I would go with a 2-7X but would prefer the lower power variable.
Good Shooting,
George

I got the Bushnell Banner 3-9x40, the BDC model so its calibrated for .30-30 (Marlin 30AW). No cam for .35 Rem though. I think the marlin lever guns accuracy allows for 100+yrd shooting so a 3-9 works nicely, .35rem has good performance for 100yrds or more

I'll second the 2x7 Multishot by Mueller.  You won't find a better match for a levergun.  I have one mounted on a Marlin 336 and it is awesome for the money.  It is brighter than many of my more expensive scopes.  If you can get over the China thing, you need to give them a try.  The Mueller is one of the better scopes I own.  I have Leupolds VXII, Bushnells3200, Legend, Trophy, Banner, a Burris FFII, and even an old steel Redfield.  The Mueller is up there with any of them.

I put a Ziess Z plex on a scout setup on my Guide Gun and I love it.  It's great because you keep both eyes open, you see everthing thats going on. Best thing I ever did.  I can keep, from a rest, a 3 inch group at 200 yds with it.
