This is gonna drive me nuts
« on: July 14, 2006, 08:23:52 PM »
I received my Hern 2/3 1841 2 1/4 bore 6 pounder barrel today and it's gonna drive me nuts cause I want to fire it NOW, but I got to build the truck first, hone the barrel a little, and drill the touch hole,  learn the proper and safe loads, all which lead to more questions which I hope get answered if I ever get that book The more complete cannoneer. I hope you guys don't mind me asking questions that you have probably responded to a million times before cause I want to do this right and not be a satistic in some newspaper. Think I'll go downstairs now and pet it some more.

Depending on what machinery you have available, you could make a carriage like this one pretty quickly:

These are 20" wheels and the barrel is about 18 1/2" long; use the biggest wheels you can find.  The rest of the thread is here.
