38-40/40 Vaquero
« on: July 15, 2006, 01:08:30 PM »
I picked up awhile back a Vaquero in 38-40/40 and I know it was a limited run from Davidsons and I was wondering if anyone knew how many were made in each bbl length? It shoots fine although I want to change the grips as the Ruger grips don't fit my hand right. Mines the 4 5/8 in Bbl.  TIA. :)

I also have the same gun in BSS.

I recently thought of trying to find another one for CAS, but none are around here (Rocky Mtns).

I might suggest you do a www.galleryofguns.com "search" at Davidson's to see if the have the information you seek.

Ask over on Ruger Forum and you'll get your answer.

I have a .38-40/.40 S&W and the .32-20/.32 HRM, I was trying to find out about them and sent an email to Davidson's suggesting that they put up a "history" page and list the special models that they have produced so that gun owners who are trying to research their particular firearm can find out the where/ when/ how many of it.

The following is from the reply I recieved:

Dear Mr. M     ,

Thank you for your suggestion about adding a "Historical" page to our
website and I will forward your email to my boss.

Both guns were a Davidson's exclusive and approximately 250 guns were
produced.  Thank you for your purchase of both guns and we hope you enjoy
them.

If you have any questions please contact me...

PS: finding another probably won't be easy.
