changing hi-vis to low-vis
« on: July 15, 2006, 03:40:06 PM »
So my rod and reel are all spooled up with hi-vis fire line 6lb-2lb. This is what I use in the Mississippi jigin for walleye and sauger. The line is bright yellow in color. I plan on fishing a very clear lake and the hi-vis line is just bothering me. I  dont want to change it out and throw it away because it is expensive and fairly new. I do not have a spare spool for this reel. What to do. Then I remember a old fishing trick I learned years ago. Take a green magic marker, put the last ten feet of your hi-vis fire line between the marker and the work bench and pull the line through once or twice. Now you have the best of both worlds, a low vis leader and the rest is effectively visible. This works great on all the super braids and fire line.
