Looking at getting one of these in .223 for coyotes. Can someone tell me the difference between the two?

Cap, I'd check the Savage website and look at the specs. Not 100% sure but I believe that the FV has a 26" bbl while the FP has a 24" bbl is the main difference and that the FP comes in a LA or SA while the FV is SA only. I have the FV in .223 and love shooting it.

There's very little difference between the standard (not Choate stocked) 10FP and the 12FV.

The action and trigger is identical.
The FP has a 24" bbl versus the FV's 26" bbl.
The FP is matte finished and the FV is low luster bluing.
The FP has a black coating on the bolt that supposedly reduces friction (but I can't tell it does anything).
The FP has an extra swivel stud in the forearm.

The FV is a better buy if you aren't just attracted to the cool mystique of the FP supposedly being the tactical weapon.
Close only counts in horse shoes and hand grenades.

Thanks guys, was trying to figure out the reason for the price difference between the two. No need for a "tactical" rifle, already use them at work. Placed an order for the FV. Depending on how long it will take to get in I'll wait for it otherwise I might crack and pick up the FP just so I have one for the winter.
