help
« on: April 05, 2003, 01:12:17 AM »
:D   Hey guys ,  i need some help figuaring out a slight problem, when i'm loading . .405 hard cast or a 325 hard cast ,or a 350gr soft point and crimp the case into the crimping grove, and then load them same rounds in the gun at the range , and  close the action, and open up thye action and look at the round , i notice that the rifleing is engaging the bullet, now what do i do, ive reduced my charges buy 15% so i would not get over pressure, but can i cut the cases down past overall lenght and try agin still with reduced loads so over pressure won't result or go to a gun smith and get him to enlarge the chamber some? or am i just getting dizzy im my old decreped mind.
                                       real darn confused,

Kevin,

No offense meant, but I'd try cross posting this to the reloading forum.  I don't think its necessarily a bad thing to have the rifling engrave the tip of the bullet.

If you are engaging the rifling how much is the OAL shortening? Is your brass trimmed to proper length? Sean

sorry to say that the cartrige is not to long its at 2.550" long as lyman
reloading book says the over all case lenght is 2.100 and thats trimmed to lenght, now the barrel is a t/c encore khatidian , i know one thing for sure that if i use winchesters xx supreme it does not engae the rifleing becuse the bullet itself is more pointed and the bullets that bug me are nice big and fat.
