This question is mostly just to test the waters. I've got a Ruger #1 in .308 win. Had it about 3 years, put maybe 100 to 125 rounds through it. I bought it as a deer rifle while living in TN, but moved to southeast MI, where you can't hunt with a rifle.
I've wanted a Sharps in .45/70 for quite some time to shoot silouettes. My budget situation is such that it will be several years before I could afford to buy a Sharps outright. My question then is this: if any of you were in this position, and you could find someone with a Sharps who was willing to trade, would it be worth it to you to trade your Ruger for a Sharps? My thoughts are that I could still hunt deer with the Sharps when presented with a chance, and buying another Ruger would be cheaper at some point. On the other hand, I love my Ruger, and finding a Sharps worth having for an even trade on a #1 would be difficult.
Anyway, just looking for thoughts or ideas. Any advice? Should I look for something like that, or just keep the Ruger and keep dreaming!?
