Good Bullet for 30-30

what bullet and weight would you guy's suggest for my contender in 30-30.
it will be mainly used on deer.
i was thinking of the nosler ballistic tip in 130 grain.
what do ya'll think?

Go with the 125 grain Nosler BT and never look back.  I load that bullet for my .300 Whisper and its a good one.  Amazling accurate and  fast acting on game.

 i agree with the previous posters that the 125 nosler bt are tough to beat.but if you are looking to shoot something a little cheaper i have shot sierra 125 gr single shot pistol bullets .these are made to give reliable expansion at contender velocities.i have shot 4 deer with the sierra ssp bullet.complete passthrough on all 4 . just another suggestion..jim ::)

If you are hunting in a brushy area and don't have to worry about distance, Sierra makes a nice 150 gr.

I've had excellent accuracy from the Remington 125 gr. PSP and cheap too.  I also like the Speer 130 gr. FP as the point is not that flat and is a proven deer slayer.

I have had very good luck and accuracy using the Hornady 130 Single Shot Pistol Spire Point.  I don't know if it is still available though.  As far as cast bullets go, I shoot the 311041--it's a classic bullet and very accurate.  I never used it for hunting, as I prefer the expansion of the SSPSP bullets.  Good-luck...BCB

I've used both the Hornady 130 gr. SSP and the Nosler 150 gr. BT.  They both worked great.  For deer under 150 lb. I think the 130 is fine.  For really big deer I like the 150 better.  Prairie dogs and coyotes get the 130's.
