I just bought my new truck,Dodge Dakota Quad Cab 4x4,2003.
I pick it up nexted Saturday.It has the 4.7 v8 and the 5 speed auto tranny.
Expensive but what the hell i deserve it.Had to sell a few extra guns for downpayment,but still have a few for blasting.
Cant wait till nexted Saturday.
Anybody out there have one to tell me about?

Well, I wish you'd asked sooner. I bought a 1999 Dakota in Dec. of 99 and all I'll say is this: I hope you don't need warranty service or parts anytime soon.

I had a 1992 dakota extracab 4x4 and it was a good truck not to many problems,my dad still has it,200000 km so far.
My new one has 3 year bumper to bumper warranty and a 7 year or 115000 km powertrane warranty,so i hope i dont needto use it to often.

My catalytic converter went bad and made the truck un-drivable. This was, I think about 6 months after I bought it. I took it back to the dealer I bought it from and he said it would take two weeks to get a new one. I called around to other dealers and got the same story. I called Chrysler and they said they would call the dealer about paying for a rental car but only for a week. Since this happened on a weekend, I already had rented a car so I could go to work on monday.

I eventually got a call that my truck was ready, coincidentally one day before I believe the lemon law would have gone into effect and they would have had to take the truck back. The cashier asked if I gotten a rental car and I presented my receipt from the rental car company. The cashier said I had to use their rental car company. I calmly explained to her that a.) no one had told me that and that b.) since this happened on on a weekend did they expect me to not get a car to go to work on monday? She took my receipt and said that she would see what she could do, which was of course, nothing.

Bottom line, I ended up paying more for my "warranty" repair than I would have by simply getting an off the shelf cataylic converter and having it installed. Why didn't I? Catch-22, that would have voided my warranty. I wanted to dump the truck then and there but it had already dropped several thousand dollars in "blue book" value.

About a year ago, I had a switch on the cruise control go out. Same story, two weeks to get a part. At least this time I could still drive my truck.

My assumption is that this is some college-boy business-major nonsense about not warehousing stuff to save money. Congratulations, you saved the company $2.50 by not warehousing the parts my truck needed. Congratulations, I'll never be so stupid as to buy from you again. Coincidentally, I saw a co-worker who owned a Dodge Ram show up in his new truck the other day. A Ford.

I bought a 2002 quad cab in june of 2002, 4.7 motor, auto trans. Have had no problems whatsoever so far. Had the spray in bedliner done, and put on a leer lid. Mileage is only 18 1/2 on trips. was hoping for a little better...

Northern,
My neighbor bought one 3 mos ago. First he got the v-6 but took it back because it was way underpowered. With the V-8, he loves it, tho he does mention milage. I don't think it's as good as Sams but that's not why he bought it. (milage) Have fun with yours, you should enjoy it.

I had a 98 Dodge Dakota V-6 and the same thing happened to my tranny also. It made me late to report on a PCS also. Took the dealership 3 weeks to repair the POS!! I hate Dodge. I made a complaint to there head quartes. What do you expect though a German owned company, that will crap on the US every time. I will neve own another Chrysler product in my life!!!

Yeah, I read that they were going to start buying their transmissions from someone else shortly after I bought my truck. I don't know if they did or not. I know that they had a BIG problem with them alot of people bought those Chrysler minivans had transmission woes.

I talked to the 800 number people also. They contacted the dealer. This was supposed to be a big deal because the dealer's rating depended on these complaints. A lot of good it did me, and this was a 5-STAR dealer! I think the only thing that got them in gear was that I told the 800-number guy that the lemon law was about to go into effect.

What was that Lee Iacoca used to say? The pride is back? Yeah, back-ordered.

a friend of mine has 2002 (no 4x4) bought in august, got t-boned yeterday when a f-150 blew a stop sign and smoked the passenger side doing 60

Well so far i love my quad cab,have had it for 2 months now and it has 3650 km on it.Took it on a camping trip on the long weekend ,with 2 adults and 3 kids and the box full of are gear,covered with a tonueo cover.I got 20.4 miles to our gallon"Canadian" my old one only averaged 19 to 20 and it had the v6 my new one has the 4.7 litre v8.Lots of balls when you put it down it just gets up and goes.Fun ya.
