Who makes a good 12 power in the lower price range? Probably less than 100.00?...

Then you DO NOT want a CHEAP high power binocular. With it you won't see them. Get a HIGH QUALITY binocular of 8 to 10X instead.

Well $100 12x won't do it, sorry.  A good pair of 8x or 10x probably will.  Save your money and when you have at least $400 you can get some glass that are worthwhile.  You can buy that cheap glass four times over or buy something that will give you a lifetime of service.

The best binoculars I have came with the Burris FFII 3x9x40 scope......$199.00 for both..just 8x32 though but super clear

I could not agree more, also cheap bino's will give you a headache looking through them for extended periods of time. I have 2 pair of bino's, a pair of Zeiss Diafun 8X30 for compact hunting and a pair of Zeiss 8x42 Victory T* FL for spotting animals form a good distance and judging animals.

Just read in a hunting magazine last week where the Bush Elite binos won several optic awards for there price range, which ain't cheap, around 1000.00.

Dang Redhawk, we agree on sumpin.  :o Is that a first?  ;D For shore cheap optics is NOT the way to save money on hunting gear.

I have a Bushnell Elite 10X and yup they are some fine optics. In fact when I first demo'ed them at the NEF PD shoot last June some of the guys there who owned European binoculars said they felt the Elite was superior to them.

But ya know even with the Elite I still find myself going back to my Legend 8x42s more often than not. I really love the Bushnell Legend it is a truly fine binocular at a very reasonably price. If I had to let one or the other of them go the Legend would stay. I had a Leica and let it go to keep the Legend as I much preferred it to the Leica. I'd do the same with the Elite, they Legend just suits me to a "t".

Waiting on my 10x42 Bush Trophy binos (camo) to come in from OZ along with Elite1500 LRF, and 3200 5x15x50 scope.

Bushnell Trophy binoculars are not phase corrected and therefore crap for any extended viewing.  Next time ask for some advice before buying something that you will never be satisfied with.

First, 10x is the most magnification most folks can use well without a rest. Second, as mentioned before cheap binoculars don't give you much for the money and with cheap optics you need more magnifiation to overcome the lack of clarity. You can save money by buying poro prism  binoculars (the ones with crooked tubes) since they are cheaper to make work well. Bushnell Legend poro prism binoculars are a good buy as are their roof prism models. Check the prices at The Optic Zone. Dave

Just so others will know, phase correction coatings are only necessary/used on roof-prism binoculars. Porro-prism binoculars do not need them.

Expect them to break during the first year of hunting use.

The least expensive 12x50mm binoculars I would consider are the Nikon Action Extreme 12x50mm or Pentax PCF WP II 12x50mm, both at $190.
