Replicating the Hornady 44 mag XTP JHP

Some time ago I read here that the Hornady 44 mag XTP can be easily reloaded.  Getting bullets and brass is no issue, but what and how much powder do you use and what is your OAL.  Looking to work these up for hunting with my Ruger SBH Hunter.  Thanks.

Thanks Redhawk.  Any of those powders listed a favorite with you.  Should I just match the factory velocity?

I use 21 grains of Aliant 2400 and it gives me a chronographed 1350 fps. in my 6&1/2" 629 classic.

H110 and LIL'GUN are what I use, I also use Alliant 2400 powder depending on the bullet you intend to use, the powder charge is different.

I use a Ruger SBH and for me its H110 not only for 300's but for 240's as well W296 has also given me good accuracy.

DGrig...  I assume by your questions that you're a new reloader.  You should read a few reloading manuals before you get yourself in trouble.  You should never just dump in a load of powder on someone's recommendation.  You start with a starting load and work up to what works for your individual gun.  As for OAL, you will probably want to use the crimping groove that's on the bullet as your guide.  That should work fine with the Ruger.  You'll probably find your best results with H110, 296, or 2400.  Be safe and have fun!
