Speer bullet lube
« on: July 23, 2006, 06:19:28 AM »
I just picked up some bulk Speer .452 dia. 250 gr. SWC, and I notice that they now coat them with some sort of hard lube. The thickness of it is very uneven, with some "craters" around the bearing surface. I did a seating test, and pulled the bullet. For comparison, I also seat-tested a JHP and an old 200 gr. conventionally-lubed lead bullet. Both these had better contact. I'll make sure the crimp is good, but I wonder about those bullets. Anyone else like to share their experiences with them? Are they consistent?
