am considering a beeman SH 1000
« on: July 24, 2006, 05:52:29 PM »
I am thinking of an air rifle I've got critters in the apple trees and i  want a good accurate  middle of the road type gun some thing that will last and take the abuse of being used fairly frequently right now with very little informationiam I am  considering the beeman Sh 1000 or maybe a Gamo hunter spot air rifle anyone have any firsthand knowledge on any of these.  or if you were going to start over and get a first time {Well first air rifle since a daisy and a crossman about thirty some odd years ago.} air gun what would you steer clear of and what would say was a solid reliabe choise. i like to plink and target shoot as well as have the abelity to keep the uninvited critters out of my garden, that may be more of an excuse than a reason, plus I think it will get past my wife better than, i just wanted one.              thanks for any help or coments

well what kind of critters? well  if you get a airgun in the .177 class look at the daisy Model 1000SB airgun from walmart for 100$. It says daisy be it the Winchester  airgun line and it come with a 3-9x32mm scope and has 1000fps and has a black composite stock.

i will look the next time i am there.walmart had to stop selling guns in CA. dont know if it included air guns i just didnt think of that .had some cabelas points i was going to use up .but i will look if they have it i can find something else to use those points up on. is this the gun you are shooting? Is this a good shooting gun ten to thirty yards will be the bulk of my shots. does it hold up well.
Critters are small rodents of some type, eyes are about 2 1/2 inches apart, was poking at it with a stick the other night i lost sight of it,and  it got out of the tree real quit. dont know what it was. think it was a regular common rat. i have some pesky birds too. am checking the regs to see if i can shoot them legaly. but rats is rats if you can buy a trap in the hard ware store and kill um that way i can shoot um too i assume. not a problem with any hieghbors none close enough to know anyway.to dark for a bow and i'd do more damage than the critters with a shotgun.and that would get the niegbors upset. I have a rabbit hutch up against a fence the fence runs right into the canapy of the tree that is having the worst problem so rats are not as far fetched as it might seem.

well for rats any gun in .177 with fps of 650 or higher will do(dasiy 880,868, crosman 2100). i have not use the 1000SB but i have hear good things about it. try www.reviewcentre.com/consumer_reviews54.html\ for info from people that have use it. i do have the crosman 2200mag and 766 and have kill squirrels at 30 yards with the .22 and kill a coon at 15 yards with the .177.

well i went the cheep route. got a daisy 880S Wallmart did not have anything better they remodeled and the shelfs had some empty spots.had my daughter with me, a ten year old,so if we like the air gun i will probaly get myself a better one later, and let her have this one. i would like it if she takes an intrest in the shooting sports. so we got some pellets and some bb's too once i know it will shoot i am going to sit under that tree with a light.the lack of a better gun and a case of the i want it now got me .i am also going to start saveing up for a new 22 for christmas so saveing a few dollars here will help that cause.thanks for the answers and the wal mart idea. now i am going to go read the paper work with my daughter give her a little gun safty lesson and go have a little fun.   D.C.   thanks again

tactical error I should have got two of them,as my daughter says she likes it and she wont let me have a turn. this is great, she likes it. so it looks like i stil need a gun, the thing shoots ok too.first three shots two in the ten and one in the nine  number four was a flyer out of the black out at the six ring.only ten yards. we got one of those beeman pellet traps with the swinging targets too didn't put the scope on she dont want it.looks like i just might have a new shooting partner.   I'll put the glass on mine when i get it. wow i get to shoot in the back yard.  This is great   D.C.

thanks for the site link jamaldog87 i am leaning towards the beeman think i will call and see if they have it in the .22 or if they are only offering there DEAL in the .177 model. for the back yard the .177 is fine. it will probaly do everything i want it to do.   thanks again      D.C.

Well they only offered it in 177 But most of the reviews were favorable. so i placed the order,It should be here soon. i will make a report on it once i have shot it a little.i did find one at a big five spoting goods store, for same price{it was on sale} and would have been cheeper by a dollar or two. beteen taxes and shipping it is almost a wash . but i had those points to burn so i am waiting. i liked the feel of it, and got to hold a few of the gamos too, one was real nice but a whole lot more money.           D.C.
