The outer diameter is the same as a belt on a .300 Win Mag. That's how they get the case capacity without giving up a round in the mag.
Has anyone been able to locate some pictures of the Ruger "Alaskan" rifle in .375 Ruger......Or how about some pictures of the ".375 Ruger" ammo, preferably in side by side comparison w/other similar rounds???I'm REALLY looking forward to seeing some of these rifles & ammo 'hit the shelves' - hopefully by spring or mid summer!!

I think it's gonna be the same as the magnum case but NOT the diameter of the belt. That's the way the .284 Winchester and the .375 Styr both are, roughly 1/2" diameter for case OD. I believe the new .375 Ruger will turn out to be a longer version of the .376 Styr. I think the current one is about 2.2" long or so and the new one is likely to be 2.4" to 2.5" long but otherwise identical.

Ruger's specs for the African are 7 3/4lbs in weight. I wonder what it will be like firing a round that pretty much duplicates the 375 H&H only out of a rifle that is about 2lbs lighter than most 375 H&H's.
Coyote Hunter, when you say it won't have as much recoil as your 45-70 what level 45-70 loads is that? Marlin level or Ruger #1 and with what weight? I'm familiar with heavy loads out of a 45-70 guide rifle. Will it be possible to duplicate the Ruger 375 specs with available powders or will it only reach that level of performance with factory loads?
My 375 H&H pushes the 300 gr bullet at 2648 FPS and the 270 at 2620 fps and the 250 at 2710 fps. And thats a fact!
What I think is most exicting about the 375 ruger is that it will work out of a standard length action and it is going to serve as the basis for alot of new cartridges that will exceed the current belted mags out of standard length actions. I would have rechambered several of my guns to the Dakota rounds if the brass hadn't been so expensive for the Dakotas.
My understanding is that the .375 ruger is a necked up .35 Newton case.Has anybody heard anything about this?Rummer

Already planning to get the .375 Ruger, but might go with a .338 if that comes out beforehand. Could get excited about a 7mm and .300 version, too, if I didn't already have faithful friends in Rem and Win Mags respectfully.
