Need help with a problem
« on: July 26, 2006, 03:34:14 PM »
Ok, lets give this a try.  I have a pre G2 contenderand a new custom shop 357 maximum barrel.  I went to the range tonight and heres what happened.  First 2 rounds had a light primer strike, 3 and 4 blew the action open.  No as far as a overloaded round, this wasnt the case.  I measure ever round when I loaded, and when I came home tonight, I took them apart and measured again.  These loads came directly from the Contender load book and were not listed max.  Whats going on?

Sounds like excessive breech face to barrel gap...which also means poor lock up with the frame. I would send the gun to TC and have them make it right.
