« on: April 06, 2003, 08:11:01 AM »
Can anyone tell me how this will shoot. I am looking at buying one and am concerned on how it will shoot. Looking for 100 yards or under with a 115gr. hp bullet. I have not been able to find any of these in thompsonx factory is this a aftermarket deal or were they produced at one time...Thanks LEon

These were regular factory barrels.  Try Ed's TC he lists them on his website for $175.  I don't think a 10" length is the best choice for this caliber.  Sometime you can find these listed on ebay also.

My opinion is a 10" 7-08 is of no use. A 7TCU will be within maybe 150 fps of it.
A 7-30 wont be much better
this much powder is best left to 15" tubes or longer
Save your money and buy a 7TCU if a 10" tube is your thing.

Globemountain, I don't think anyone was saying the 7-08 wouldn't shoot and shoot well in a 10" tube.  Their comment was the 7-08 won't do that much more than a 7 TCU in relatively short barrel.  If the extra couple hundred feet per second is important to you, then I can understand why you like it.
