1894 marlin 44 mag micro grove accuracy and loads
« on: July 26, 2006, 05:05:31 PM »
Greetings I recently bought a marlin 1894 44 mag micro grove It was built in 1976 and is in good shape. It will be used for Pistol cartridge leveraction silhouette.I loaded some 180 grain rem jsp with unique, sighted it in and had a ball shooting it at water filled coke bottles and plastic milk jugs also water filled. The first shot at 100 yards exploded the jug .Good clean fun for a 59 year old . I shot about 100 rounds with open sights to get used to the rifle I ordered a marble tang sight and a green fibre optic front sight (should be good for old eyes)           Now it was time to find an accurate load for the rifle.  I mounted a 3.5 to 10 to work up a load for the matches. I want to use an 180 grain or 200 grain jacketed bullet. So far it averages about 2inches at 50 yards.
Can any  or all tell me how accurate your 44 is and what load you use.
