Any good 280 Rem hand loads ??
« on: July 30, 2006, 10:26:34 AM »
I just piked up my new handi in 280 Rem with a 26'' barrel. Any body got any good hand loads for this rifle? I'm going to start off with 140 grain Barnes Triple shock bullet loaded with 57.5 Gr. IMR-4831 powder and cci primer. Please help with any info you may have. THANKS

Welcome to GBO! Congrats on the new Handi, too! That load is over any book load I have, 56gr to 57gr is max for a 140gr bullet in all of my books, don't have a Barnes book, tho.

There's alot of us that have the 280,and most of them call it there go to gun for hunting ( including me). I have not found a load yet that will beat the 150 gr. Rem. Corlokts yet(1 1/4" at 100 yds.) Most of the guy's are using the 140 gr. corlokts, and are very happy with the load. I've  tried B.t.'s,Hornady's and Sierra's with IMR 4350 ,Rel. 15,19 and 22 with no improvement in accurcy. If you find a good load for your's be sure and let everyone here know about it.  Digger

Thanks for all the info. I'm going to try my load load first and go from there. I have a 7-08 rem that has taken me forever to get right before I got a load that would pattern. And I still have not got it to pattern any tighter than 2 inch groups. So i hope this 280 does not have the same problems. Thanks
