Thompson scopes

I have a thompson center scope,it is a 3x 44 made in japan with the number 00540 on it and 3rp. It has target knobs .
The windage adjustments no longer "Click" all the time the but elevation does.
Would you trust this scope to hold a zero ? Or should I send it back to thompson ??
