COMPOSITE FOREND FOR HUNTSMAN

I just installed a composite black stock with the monte carlo style as I am using a scope. I ordered a forend that was supposed to match but it does not have provision for the ramrod. Does anyone have a Huntsman with the forend that will take a ramrod in the composite rather than the wood? I may have to order directly from NEF. Suggestions??? Either that or paint the wood black?? I would prefer to go with composite.

I'm sure you could order one from H&R/NEF Customer service. Make sure they have the leaf spring for retaining the ramrod in it. Did you get your .25acp conversion? How is it shooting?

I didn't draw a tag for Colorado this year so I'll be doing a little long range testing with mine once the temp gets back down a little. It was over 100 today and will be again tomorrow, that is too hot to do much in.   I have my Huntsman stocked with the Ultra Varmint (skeleton) Stock, took the peep off and put my scope back on. Can't wait to shoot it, it fits real good with the cheekpiece installed.

Let me know what they charge for the forend, the plain ones, tamers and survivors are between $15 and $20 so it shouldn't be too bad.

I'm in Arizona so I have the same problem. TOO HOT!!! As soon as the weather breaks a little more I need to get out as I did get drawn for antlerless elk in November and have not decided on either my Omega or the Huntsman. I have not shot the rifle since I got it (Used in a trade for my Pursuit LT which I did not like). I am just getting it set up and a scope is on the way. As soon as all that happens I will be checking out the primer situation. I have a lot of the plastic inserts also so I will be making a comparison most likely. I like the conversion especially for the sensible shape of the breechplug and it allows use of a standard socket instead of the special tool. The conversion on my Omega is great and I like it much better than the 209 primers. Besides better function they are easier to handle when hunting and in a hurry to deprime load and reprime. My Omega will not shoot Tripple Seven without a severe crud ring even with the .25ACP conversion. I hope the Huntsman might be able to use up some of the 777 that I have on hand. So far the Omega seems to like Black Mag'3 the best when comparing with the other synthetics. have never shot real black in the Omega. It shoots great with Pyrodex but the mess is beyond what I want to deal with when hunting. I am calling NEF today to see if I can get a foreend coming.

Just checked with H&R and they are sending the correct forend and the cost is $17.00 plus shipping. I have had real good experiences with the customer service area.

Try a 3/8" O-Ring on the forend stud then snug the forend down, this helps to somewhat float the forend as best as can be expected and improves accuracy in some rifles. It works for me!
