shooting a 454 casull in a 45/410 encore
« on: August 02, 2006, 06:40:16 AM »
I have an encore with a 45/410 15 inch barrell.Considering the strength of the encore and the long chamber on the barrell,is it possible and safe to shoot 454 loads in that gun.For that matter ,what about shooting the 460 in the same gun? Thanks for any and all  replies.

I asked MR Jones of SSk this same question. His answer was, he would not shoot a round with those kinds of pressures in a sloppy chamber of the 45-410.
The 45 colt is a Rather low pressure round and you Can get away with a sloppy chamber better.

I have to agree, I would never attempt it. Even though the Encore frame is designed for that, the slop in the barrel is a accident waiting to happen.
