Double Action Pistol Pictures
« on: August 02, 2006, 11:29:08 AM »
A picture thread would be a great place to capture pictures of the DA pistols that members of this forum have.  Please feel free to post them here...

Doug

P.S.  I copied the idea from Rolltide on the Dan Wesson board.... ::)  ;)

Also, Thanks to everyone for sharing pictures of their guns.

Dan Wesson .357 Mag and .44 Mag with 8 inch barrels.  The .357 Mag also has a 6 inch barrel that is not scoped.  The grips where made by Hogue using the green canvas Micarta, which is the same material used on my knife handles.

Ok, here is my 1920 Colt Police Positive Special making beleave it is a Detective Special (2 1/2" barrel). This new to me classic sometime in the past had its barrel bobbed and was nickle plated I added the black mother of pearl grips because the Sile grips that was on it were too uncomfortable.

The wood on the 29-4 or the other wood?
This is my first handgun, Ruger Redhawk in 44. Now has an action job by JD Jones, Bowen rear sight.

The 29-4 is English Walnut.

All of my double actions are OLD shooters, i don't have anything that hasn't spent a huge amount of time in the bush with me.

  Anyway, here's a few 44's....

  S&W M-29 44 mag. 8-3/8", origional Ruger 44 mag. Blackhawk flat top, some of my cast bullet reloads, S&W M-19 44 spl. 4", S&W m-29 44 mag. 6".

I've put a HUGE amount of meat in my freezer with the S&W's over the years, from moose on down....

Broomr Rider - Impressive photos. I get the opinion you like Smiths. Where did you get all those beautiful grips from? Were they a stock grip or did you have them custom made to youf hand like Herretts?

The grips are all from Herrett's in Twin Falls Idaho. Jordan Trooper model and made to my hand size. I'm a big girl, 5' 14" with hand size to match!

I've had the Jorden Troopers made for me too, but they didn't hold up well on my hunting guns.  I've found Pachmyers rubber grips better for hunting, and competition shooting, also they are a very close design to the JT's...  Another huge pluss for the Pachmyers is, they shrunk my groups, as they "stay put" in my hands with full power loads.  This is especially important when your hands are sweaty or damp from rain or dew.   Hard to beat those Jordans for looks though....

  BTW Broom, are you 5'-1", 5'-4", or 6'-2" ??     ;D   ;D

Has anyone noticed what is strange about my 617 yet? It's the only reason I bought it.
