30-40 Krag parts
« on: August 03, 2006, 10:17:26 AM »
I recently acquired a 30-40 Krag, I would like to put it back to original military cinfiguration.  I need a couple of parts to get there, and have searched the net as well as every gun shop I know of to locate them, but can't seem to find what I need.

I am looking for a front band, middle band (complete, or a middle band and a stacking swivel for U.S. Military KRAG 1898.  Does anyone have a source for these parts?  I have tried Numrich, Brownell, Midway and about a half dozen other places and couldn't find them.

Maybe someone knows of an old gunsmith that sportrized them and kept the removed parts.

Thanks for any and all information.

rockbilly - I'm thinking there should be some Krag collectors websites that would have all tha tinformation for you.  I know some of the parts houses don't stock parts for older mil-surps but there must be a collectors association out there that can help.  HTH.   Mikey.

Mikey, Thanks.  I guess I will spend more time looking on the net.  Someone has to have them.

Thanks for all the response.  None of the recommended sources had the parts I needed, but I did manage to locate them on ebay.  I got everything I need except the front barrel band w/stacking swivel.  At least I can get started in the restoration of the gun.

Thanks again.
