307 Win to 7mm-08 Rimmed

If I had an Encore barrel made for 7mm-08 Rem made from 307 Win brass, could I still use standard 7mm-08 ammo in it!

I guess the question is, can both the rimmed and rimless be used in the same barrel?

I wouldn't because there is nothing to support the base of the 7-08 brass where the rim would normally be.  It might possibly work but the possibility of case rupture seems to chancy to me.

It seems to me like everything for support would still be there, the only exception would be that the wider rim provided by the 307 brass wouldn't, when using regular 7mm-08!

Chuck, since it's an Encore bbl that can have any length cartridge, have you considered chambering to 7x57Rimmed, the rimmed equivalent of 7mm Mauser?
Cases & ammo are made by Norma, RWS and Privi Partizan and in a strong action it can be loaded up to 50,000psi like its rimless relative.
It also means it can headspace on the rim unlike 7mm-08.
In fact, you could even chamber to 7x65R, a rimmed 280 Remington which is also made by the above firms.
Incidentally, Privi Partizan make quality brass and are very economical.
Grafs use them for the obsolete military ammo they make.

If you're in the habit of settin' back the shoulder of the rimless round when reloadin', it is possible that the brass will migrate from the pressure ring until the case fails. Otherwise I doubt it would be much of a problem.

This is kind of what I was thinking!
I know that EAB offers the 284 Winchester chambering in their barrels!
With it's rebated case head, there is nothing to support it either!
My son has one of those and has no problem with it!
