It has been some time since I was here but need your help now if you can, I have a Rossi Model 1892 in .45 colt,one of the older models that dosen't have a safty. It is a great rifle (20" barrel) but the rear sight is terrible, I went to Brownnell and they don't offer the Marble buckhorn sight any more, does anyone know where I might get a decent rear sight for this rifle. I plan on having the front sight drilled and tapped to take a gold bead, need a rear sight. Thanks again for your help.

This guy can help you, I hope.  I know there's an aftermarket sight that fits, or you can just ask him to set you up.

Marbles makes a tang sight that fits a Rossi 92.  You can get one from Midway on sale this month.  I have a Williams FP reciever sight on my Rossi.  Get the one for pre-angle eject model 94 Win, or Marlin 336, or win 92, also from Midway.  You will have to get your rifle drilled and tapped for the sight. 

I have a Williams FP on my Rossi 92 in 357 mag.  It is my preference.

I have a Lyman receiver sight on all my lever actions including my Rossi Model 92. I ordered it from Brownell and ordered the drill bit and tap at the same time. The other guy is right. I just asked for a sight that would fit a pre-64 Model 94 Winchester. But I put a white stripe post front sight on it. Good combo. ;)

I just bought a Rossi 92 in 45 Colt (the one before the safety).  Its old but NIB never fired.  I know nothing about thses guns.  What kind of load can it handle?  I bought some "cowboy loads" to play with, but if I get an itch to deer hunt with it will it handle something hotter.  Any other info would be appreciated.  I just realized I might be stealing someone's thread, is that rude of me?  If so I apologize.

This is a rude thread so fire away. The rossi has a strong action, so stay with a manual and loadem up. I have a 357mag in the 24" octogon and its smooth, reliable, strong and accurate. Enjoy ;)

They chamber it in 454 Casull so as long as you don't go nuts about any 45 colt load you want to use will be OK.

Don't confuse the steels used in the .454 receivers, as opposed to the steels in the .45 Colt receivers. Obviously, the .454's operate at 65,000psi. A max .45 Colt load would probably be in the 45,000psi range. That's a BIG difference. But, the Rossi 1892's ARE strong guns. I own one in .45 Colt, & refer to Paco Kelly's load data for a hunting load. JD45
