Holstering Model 83.

I recently noticed that the front sight blade on my Model 83 is starting to lose the bluing on its front sight blade. The revovler has only been in a holster once. Does anybody else here holster their 83? Did the bluing wear off easily?

Sure ... do it all the time ... it is just blueing. When it starts to bothering you, touch it up with some cold blue.

Better yet, don't let it bother you.

if it was an all blue gun instead of stainless you would be more concerned about the bluing wear on the barrel and the cylinder from sliding in andout of a holster. use it and enjoy it, the marks of everyday use add character.

Thanks guys, I was just curious if mine was the only one that the blue was wearing. I like to keep my guns pristine if possible, but it seems anytime you use something it does get some wear no matter how careful you are.

You could remove it and have it reblued pretty easily. There is a small screw at the base. If you use the Outer's cold blue kit, I would remove the blade for the job.
You may find a different finish more to your liking--flat black is available.

I bet FA would sell you a spare. Then you could put the nice shiney new one on for Sundays and use the rubbed one one for everyday work chores.
