I saw an interesting Handi on a used rack
« on: August 11, 2006, 08:07:33 AM »
It is a Handi in 223 with a slim contour "superlight" style barrel of about 20 inches long.  I has open sights, but not the plastic ones they used to use (like my 1991 45-70), but metal ones made by Williams.  It also has straight grip stock, but is not a youth model.  It is quite interesting overall and handled quite nicely to me.  I am interested in it, it would be a fun plinker.

My question is, is it an original, or does it sound like it has been modified by a previous owner?  Also, he is asking $250, quite high considering new models go for less than $210 at another gun store.

Thanks for all responses.

The 20" Superlight is a standard barrel offering, it's offered with sights or scope rail in the accessory barrel program, Williams sights are standard on all current NEF rifles, AFAIK. It's also available in a complete rifle as a youth model with sights or an adult model with a scope rail, stocks are easily changed, so it's hard to tell for sure how it started life.

FWIW, the Superlights are usually harder to get to shoot good, although the .223 shouldn't be as bad as the .243 with less barrel heat.
