Turkey chicks. Freshly hatched mid Aug ??
« on: August 15, 2006, 06:45:44 AM »
The wife saw some baby turkey chicks on our property this morning. She says the were the itty bitty sized fluffy version. Smaller than your clenched fist. She almost thought they were duck chicks LOL

I see turkeys almost daily here, and all the turkey chicks I've seen over the years are always the bigger version, grouse sized ish or so by mid august. So it looks like this hen got bred late. Seems real late to me.

Anyone ever seen turkey chicks this small this late in the year?

Maybe they can have two broods?
Said I never had much use for one, never said I didn't know how to use it.

I posed a similar question about this time last year with no response. I saw a number of very small turkey chicks out with a hen. They looked about the size of a pigeon but with turkey-like features and a turkey hen herding them around.

I can't for the life of me remember WHERE I saw these chicks.

And I'm pretty good at remembering where I see chicks. :P
