 :)Morn'in shooters.

My son just "E"ed me about a fellow who has a Llama 45 for sale for $250.

Haven't seem much about them and didn't find anything back aways in the file AND for some reason I couldn't get the system to do a search for me, Sooooooo just what is the story?

Is one in OK condition worth 250 for a shooter?

I think Llama has two pistols in 45 acp but not quite sure.  The most common is a 1911 look-a-like that is similar in appearance but not a exact copy of the 1911.  Some parts interchange I understand but not all.

Last I heard they were solid pistols and everyone I have seen or shot has performed without a problem. 

$250 for a shooter - not a bad deal, but make sure it works first.  Mikey.

It depends on your long-term application for the gun. If it works and you plan to leave it as-is, then it's probably a good deal as long it's reasonably accurate. But if you plan to customize it in some way, I wouldn't do it. The price of a basic 1911 from Springfied and others is between $350 and $400 and they make a better basis for customization.

Have shot the .380 version and it was ok, but never the .45. They are, I think, out of business so parts might be hard to come by if needed.

I had a couple of the 380s. The were "OK" I guess. Didn't like the 45s.

I've had the MINI-MAX now for 4yrs. I've shot it and never had any problems with it. Carried it off duty and also while wondering through the DACKS. Also one of my now retired co-workers has one and no problems with his either. I've shot everything through it, and it eats Remington Golden Sabres and keeps on ticking.

My local gunshop fellas told me the only .45 he's ever seen a cracked frame on was a llama...  not sure exact model or whatever...

It would be just a shooter if I picked it up, and as it is out of my imeadiate area (4 hours drive) I would have the son ring it out before buying.

I have some "E"s out to friends to see what their feelings are on the subject.

Is it the duo tone finish or the all steel parkerized black.  I see there is one at Guns America for $250.00 as well, and others are picking them up for the same price around the country at gunshows as well.

The M1911 Pistols Organization has subject matter on this as well as Packing.org.

The only thing I wouldn't like is that Llama went out of buiseness in 2005.
