I have shot 10 groups with this gun at 100 yards to prove to me the accuracy. All 10
averaged together is 1.25"
Here is a couple more but these were 50 yard groups.
This group was a group at 50 yards that I was not real wild about. I didn't like way the
385's shot. but I never shot it with 100 gr. My gun likes 100 gr of pyrodex. I have to post links instead of pictures beause the site won't let me post this many I think.
http://www.hunt101.com/img/389442.jpgAgain this is a 90 gr load with 410 hornady's at 50 yards
http://www.hunt101.com/img/389444.jpgThis load was my 410 gr Hornady bullets with 90 gr. I liked this load but when I went to
100 yards the average was about 1.5"
This was probably one of the better ones.
http://www.hunt101.com/img/393224.jpgI increased the powder to 100 gr and the groups tightened up. I have three out of the 10
Accuracy groups that measure .750, .850, .402
This is what happened when I went to 110 gr
http://www.hunt101.com/img/393234.jpgThis load opened right up so I never went any farther with it. With the power behind
these 410's I could hunt anything on this contenent with NO problem. Another this is the
sights. I love these lyman sights. I am letting everyone know because they are so good.
My point in posting what a 50 would do with a GM barrel was because Remington Mag
said he might be getting a 50. Also I posted this because even a single trigger renegade
can shoot well.
When I compaired my load in my 50 to a 58 out of my book I was amazed. in the gun
digest black powedr loading Manual I found a 58 cal load with a 560gr maxi hunter. This
was out of a TC big boar. the gun listed a 560 gr bullet
100 gr RS
MV 1290 ME 2070,,,100 yard velocity 1010 100 energy 1269
110 gr RS
MV 1345 ME 2250,,, 100 yard velocity 1036 100 energy 1335
120 gr RS
MV 1351 ME 2270,,, 100 yard vel 1040 100 yard energy 1345.
The figures I am using here are from a book. My figures are from my OHLER 35 and a
ballistic program.
I find it interesting that when you compair the 50 and the 58 with these bullets the 50
smokes the 58. I guess that using the right bullet the 58 would do better. I am just using
what I was able to find, but over several 58 loads what I can determin is that if a guy
chooses a 58 it is because he likes the kick
Like harryo said " you really don't need to
shoot larger caliber conicals for hunting. "
