front sight height

I can't seem to use the search function tonight, so I thought I would ask...I have a 22 hornet (std) and last night I mounted a peep sight on it.  My problem is I can't bring my group down.  I am assuming that I need a higher front bead.  Does NEF make a taller one than on the hornet barrel?

   There is a lot of good info about peep sights in the FAQ section
at the top of the page.
I think the .22 Hornet front sight is the highest NEF makes.
I bought the replacement sight the FAQ section recommends,
but being ham-fisted I screwed it up.
(Don't move the bead over in the dovetail with a hammer. (Duh!))
Eventually, I put a 1/16" shim (kydex) under the original front sight and used a
longer screw.  It works with the 45 grain factory loads, but the
lighter Hornady loads are still about 3" high at 50 yards.

The one thing I didn't like about the Shorty Ramp is that the screw
is under the dovetail, so you need access to a sight pusher tool.
If the sight base loosens up, you have to remove the sight insert
to tighten it up.

I thought that too, I checked out sight pushers, they're $40-$60, ended up just bucking up the ramp and knocking the sight insert out with a brass drift, they can be installed with a vise or vise-grips. It takes a little jury rigging to buck the ramp up, but it can be done. A little loctite on the screw before the install will keep it from loosening up.
