Scoped M44
« on: August 19, 2006, 03:49:30 AM »
I bought this for deer hunting and it is functioning great now after having to be sent back to Taurus to fix a cylinder indexing problem. Finally put a red dot on it and going to take it to the range today to zero it.

Thought I'd share a pic of the finished product.

How long did you have it before the problem arose? Nice rig btw.

Thanx. It showed up after about 150-200 rounds. Taurus adjusted the arm and yoke and seems to be fine now.

Just got back from range and all zeroed in and ready for deer season :)

I have the same gun, but I have a 2x bsa scope, and its a 8 3/8 barrel. I had to send mine back to have cylinder side play fixed. Happened after about 750 rds. What type of loads are you going to be shooting for deer? I was using 240gr jhp's and 180gr jhp's. I have sense went to 300gr LFN at about 1245fps. I think they should really knock a deer hard!

I have a scoped M44 8 3/8" barrell. I got 2 deer with it last year when it was only sportin' iron sights. (A doe and a button) both with one shot. It turns out I necked the nice Doe in front, it passed through, and lodged in a lung in the button. It was about a 40 yard shot. (Lucky as lucky gets....but don't tell anyone!)   :-X
I really like the Taurus's that I have owned (I currently own 3. the M44, a titanium 38, and I just picked up a PT111 in 9mm) I have never had to deal with the service department, but that is a GOOD thing. Late Doe season starts the day after Christmas here in PA, and i'm hopin' to take another one with the M44....this time with a scope!  ;D
